PLEASE DON’T TELL MY FATHER THAT LIFE ISN’T
A COMEDY

My father had 5 suicide attempts, with the last one on the edge of being successful. The scar on his arm remains and his approach to what surrounds him hasn’t changed much. He tells jokes, speaks about comedians that he saw on TV and when the dinner is served he switches to stories about Auschwitz. As the owner of a construction company, he built a lot of houses for many families. When he’s tired, he sleep- talks about the mistakes he made in several constructions. I don’t know how to tell him about the grey zones of ambiguity as I’m afraid that when I tell him the truth, he’s going to do it again.
